About Us
On a Mission
Back in August 2008, two churches in Illinois determined to fund the planting of a mission church in Champaign County. It was a small start with a small number of members, but the undertaking has grown into establishing a Bible Education Center in Urbana. The BEC mission statement was built upon two sayings in Scriptures—one by Jesus, one by Paul—which are cited below:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations … teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you…” [Mt 28:19-20, Jesus to his apostles]
“All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching … that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” [2Tim 3:16-17, Paul to Timothy]
This BEC is designed to serve the surrounding community with respect to offering on-site Bible classes and self-study Bible courses free of charge. This allows both university students and townspeople to get educated in the Scriptures — the only cost being the effort to signup, attend, and learn.
Low-cost Bibles and a resource library make the education experience affordable and available for all who want to improve their Bible understanding. In doing so, they can become better equipped to serve as disciples of Jesus Christ, as well as pass along what they have learned.
